Dear Dr. Druker,
I don't know how to thank you enough for your hard work and dedication to save lives. Thank you very much for developing Gleevec. I was diagnosed in Octorber 2001. Then put on Hydroxyurea, Interferon and Gleevec on September 2002. I almost have a normal life since I have been taking Gleevec with minimal side effects. I take 400mg per day.
Thank you so very much again.
sincerely,
Siri Jinadasa

Dearest Dr. Druker,
Your work has been wonderful....You truly are and Angel to so many! My life has been a great one. I have been married for 34+ years and we have 3 daughters and one son and 2 very beautiful granddaughters. When I was diagnosed, (I remember the day well) I was not afraid for me but for all of them. I had a feeling of shock but yet believed I was going to be alright. I still feel that way! GLEEVEC has been a miracle, one that has given all of us a life to be thankful for. And an ANGEL that brought us that miracle that we are so greatful to!
I thank you and my family thanks you so very much.
Continue with those miracles for others. And will shall sing your praises to many.
Sincerely Your's
Marcia

Dear Dr. Druker
My family and I would like to say thank`s a million, for gleevec and for all the hard work you have put into it, and are still doing. I was dx.12/14 - 99 at Lutheren Genereal Hospital in Chicago, ill.
My wife worked at another Hospital at the time, and she had gotten a phone no to call, you, for people who had questions, regarding cml. On thursday the 8 of Jan - 2000, at about 8.30 pm the phone rang, and it was YOU calling me to hear if you could answer some of my questions that I might have, I had some questions for you, but I think I was a little out of it because, Dr. Druker (the man him self had called me)
We had a very nice talk about my condition and that I was going downtown to Westeren Memorial Hospital to see Dr. Tallman for a second opinion, and you told me that he was a friend and a very good Doctor.
I was so uplifted by talking to you at the time, that I think my Ph went down by 30% just talking to you ha ha.
I was put on Hydrea at first, for about 4 - 5 week`s, and during that time we went to Denmark to see my parent`s for Christmas (99)
So shortly after coming back Home to Chicago my Dr. told us, that if we had plan`s about getting pregnant, then I would have to make a deposit in the (Bank) if you know what I mean, but we were more concerned about getting me well again, by the way we had been trying to get pregnant for about 10 12 years, Dr Cinnemann who was the Dr. that we were seeing at the time for that, told us that we should not count on getting pregnant at all, so therefor about a little over a year before I got sick, my wife had decided to have her last ovary removed, but my wife did not feel right about it, and a few day`s before the big Operation, she called it off, thank god for that. Because right before I was to start Inf i Jan 2000, we found out that my wife was pregnant with my (boy) JACOB
He came when he was suppose to come, because, he has always been there for me, even when he was newborn, he needed me to care for him, and that was good medicin for me, I HAD to get BETTER, and my wife, I can`t even begin to tell you how much she mean`s to me, she is a true fighter.
Dr. Druker if there is anything I can do for you, please call or write to me.
Sincerely and god bless all of you

I am a 60 year old African-American that was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, or CML in Jnauary 2001. I was placed in the Phase III, study of STI571 on January 16, 2001, 400mg a day (now kown as Gleevac). As of June 15, 2005 , approximately 756 patients continued to participate in the study worldwide in 17 countiries. I obtained a remission status with continued treatment using this drug, and have maintained this disease status with the continus treatment of the same.
Thank you Dr. Druker and Mid Ohio Oncology/Hem. Central, Dr. Timothy Moore, Sheri Miller, BSN, OCN and the rest of the staff.
I pray and hope that STI571 will maintain my remission status.
I would like to know how many African-American patients were involed in the STI571 Study? I have read that it has been very hard or very difficult to get African-American to participate in clinical drug trial programs based on drug trail studies conducted during WWII.
I would like to make contact with anyone that would have input on African-Americans involement in clinical drug trail programs and most of all the STI571 trails.

Dear Dr. Druker,
You saved not only my life, but my quality of life. I've been on Gleevec for 3.5 years now, and have been PCRU for nearly 3 years now. My only side effect is occassional fatigue, but even that is small.
Without your work, I wouldn't have followed my dream of owning my own business (www.motojava.com)
Your work also made it possible for me to record an album with my new band. You can listen to some of the songs at www.myspace.com/eyeknife (The singer is my business partner's daughter)
Preserving life is amazing in itself, but preserving quality of life... is like saving the same life twice.
Thank you.

Dear Dr. Druker:
I am a 52-year old American, living in Copenhagen, Denmark. (husband is Danish). I was dx. with CML August 5, 2004. Started on 400 mg. that very same day. Reached CCR in 6 months, then 2 days ago (October 19, 2005) received the best news ever - CMR - the bcr-abl is completely gone - 0 - undetectable by Q-PCR. 4-log reduction.
Side effects: edema (puffy eye-lids and watering of the eyes) and occasional muscle cramps. (manageable).
Thank you so much for your incredible work in this field - you saved my life - and continuing success in your further endeavors.
Sincerely,
Diane Palma

Dr. Druker, Just came back from my latest trip to see you. I just passed my 4year anniversary with CML and on Gleevec. What a ride it has been....but I have never lost hope because of you, not just because of your brilliance but because of the kind, gentle human being that you are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, my husbands, and my children.

Dear Dr Druker,
I live in South Africa and was diagnosed with CML in June 2003. As I was severly affected by Interferon Alpha I was placed on Hydroxyurea before starting with Gleevec in December 2003. In July 2005 my BMB was tested using the FISH as well as the PCR tests. The results came up ZERO.
Thank you for extending the life of this 60 year old grandfather.
I will continue to take 600mg per day for the next 12 months or so. The only side effect being slightly swollen eyelids.
Thank you and all of your team.
I remain ever greatful to our Creator and men like you.

I was diagnosed in May 2001.Your drug did not become
available here in Australia until 2003. Thanks to the drug
and the grace of God (there was some divine intervention
as it did not at first work) I am now in remission. Thank

No words can express enough your contribution towards redeeming the lives of thousands across the globe. All I can say is that you are a living Angel of God and may you and your generations to follow be blessed with all the good health and prosperity and peace that is so richly deserved.

Hi Doctor Druker,
I was diagnosed in CML on Aug 2000, started to take Glivec on May 2002, and only half of year later, I reached 0%ph+ and BcrAbl negative, and it's last to day!
On Feb 2005, I've married and my wife is pregnant now. All are so great to me, sorry I really don't know how to express my appreciation in English but I believe here all people are having the same feeling with me, withou Glivec, all would not be possible happening to me!
Thank you very much and thanks lots for all people working around you! We're all hoping that more new medicine will be invented in the few days coming!!! We trust and believe we would be cured completed by that time!!!!!
Thanks so so so much again! Keep us touch!

Dearest Dr. Druker,
I consulted with you via email some 6 months after I was diagnosed in Nov. 2003 and you advised me to continue taking the Gleevec even though my oncologist was persistent that I have a transplant. I just want to thank you for taking the time to correspond with me and to let you know that after 15 months on Gleevec, I am now in remission. Because of you," I am alive" and will have the opportunity to live a long life. Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication to saving lives. Without you, I wouldn't be here as well as so many other people. I pray that God will truly bless you for the life you have given so many people. You have given me my life back and I just don't know how to put it into words to say thank you enough. But I do thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul.
Love, Peace & Hope, Patricia Reynolds

My husband Craig was diagnosed with CML on 8.8.03. we were told of the new wonder drug Gleevec which had just been agreed as the first line treatment in the UK, at least Craig's timing was right. 18 months later with little side effects he has reached CCR. Number 817
we thank you for all your dedication and hard work.

Thank you, Dr. Druker, for your dedication to developing Gleevec. Without it, I know my life would be so much different. Because of Gleevec, my life can continue on much the same way as prior to learning I have CML. Because of Gleevec, I have hope for my future. Thank you.

I was diagnosed almost a year to this day. Gleevec was the first line of treatment. Within 3 weeks my white count was normal. My counts have remained normal and a bone marrow biopsy in August, 2004, showed no cancer in the marrow and no presence of the Philadelphia positive chromosome. I am in complete remission!! I have maintained a normal life style with virtually minimal side effects. I feel truly blessed that I am able to control this with Dr. Druker's magical pill. Thank you for giving me my life back so that I may see my 15-year old son and 13-year old daughter grow up.

I was diagnosed with CML after a routine medical exam in March 2004, shortly after my father's death from gastric cancer. I began participation in a research study in April 2004. After 5 1/2 months of high dose Gleevec, I am now in FULL REMISSION. My family and I would like to thank all of those that helped to develop "my miracle drug". I thank God for you everyday. My prayers are with all of those that are going through this tough battle with cancer.

It was by the grace of God that I was diagnosed with CML in May 2003 after a routine blood test. I was in shock, and to learn more about my condition, made the mistake of reading a medical book from the 1980's...it scared me to death! However, my oncologist assured me that there was a newly approved drug which could battle this disease.
I immediately began Gleevec (400 mg) and reached remission with a few months. I have been to M. D. Anderson, and was one of the first patients to participate in a clinical study...harvesting of my own marrow to save for my future. I am in remission, but not in full molecular remission as of yet. But I have hope for the future...thanks to you.
Thank you...thank you...thank you!

Dear Dr. Druker,
I don't know what I can say to you and your team of researchers that hasn't already been said. After losing my Grandfather to leukemia over 15 years ago, I was horrified when I was
diagnosed at the age of 29!
However, with Gleevec, I attained total remission in just 5 months - yeah! My husband, 3 young daughters, myself and all of our family thank you for all the time, efforts and lots of "red tape" you went through to help so many of us!
May God continue to bless you and your family for all the blessings you have given so many.
Sincerely,
